100 sleepless nights lyrics

I flew out to Detroit to do some co-writing with my friend B-South (Brian Southall). I felt so powerless because I am always on tour and there’s no real way for me to help someone like this from so far away.

It got to the point where I was so scared that if he didn’t get cleaned up soon, I knew he was going to die. “I wrote this about one of my best friends who got hooked on some pretty serious drugs. I wrote the main riff and chords to the song on an instrument called a “Kalimba” that I bought in Switzerland while we were on tour.” I threw in a lot of personal experience and added a love story to make things interesting as well. The film is about a bunch of thug kids in London who save the world from an alien invasion.

“I wrote myself into the movie Attack the Block for this song. It was heart breaking seeing such a young girl saying things like, she’ll “never be anything special” or that she was “ugly and disgusting.” This video haunted my for weeks and I ended up writing about her every once in a while.” Attached to the message was a link to her Tumblr page where she posted a video explaining why it has all come to this and basically saying goodbye and apologizing to anyone who cares about her, even though she was convinces that no one really cared. They explained that our band had meant a lot to her and felt that they should contact us to let us know what had happened. “While we were recording, some kids sent us a message explaining that their friends, a young girl at the age 16, had just committed suicide. It also talks about the ups and downs in a relationship that we’ve had recently.” I always thought it was such a sad story and I wrote this song for her. She remembered climbing this tree in her backyard and hiding from them just to see if they would look for her, or even notice that she was gone. “A girl I used to date once told me that her parents neglected her as a child. She’s the strongest girl I’ve ever known and I am inspired by her every day.” She recently finished her chemo-therapy treatment and I wrote the lyrics about how proud I am of her for making it through all of the pain and the treatment all on her own. “I wrote this song for my ex-girlfriend who has been fighting breast cancer. It May not be much, but at least it’s a place where we can forget about our problems for a little while.”

In the choruses I sat “this is a wasteland, my only retreat.” I am referring to the shows that we play as a temporary home for those who need it. It was inspired by the letters, messages, and conversations that we’ve had with them over the last couple of years. “I wrote this song for all of our fans who feel like they don’t have a home or a place that they fit in. I asked him if he’d be down to do a song together and the rest was history! Big thanks to our boy Kellin’s for joining forces and making something special with us.” I had never met him before, but we started talking on Twitter due to our mutual fans. For months, fans had been tweeting at me to do a song with Kellin Quinn from the band Sleeping with Sirens. We wrote the music for this song with my friends Curtis Peoples and Steve Miller in a cabin that we converted into a studio in Big Bear, California. Mike came up with the title and I thought it was a perfect way to describe the song. Sometimes I feel like there are just too many things weighing on my mind at once and I can’t control my thoughts or even my body at times. “This song is about getting pushed past your breaking point.
